Your Excellency will do me the kindness in Noticeing the following Statement

Some time about the 2^nd day of Sept 1869, A yoke of Oxen belonging to me was taken in the night time ~~and~~ to Marion County Alabamala, and was there lured on by an Officer (W^m F Hamiltin) under an Attachment for a debt that was Contracted by My father (W. B. Coker) of which I had his Con^ni^iscance. A few days after myself, W, T, Coker and Robt Coker (My Brothers) went to Marion County ala and asked of the Officer (Hamilton), a release of of the Steers,—Offering to Make and affidavit of ~~the~~ ^my right to ^them ~~steers~~, the Officer refused to give them up, we then in a peaceful Manner (knowing the steers to thbe Mine and not lible to the Attachment) drove ~~the steers~~ ^them home /to this county I have been informed that a requisition will be required to by the Governor of Ala for My arrest. I pray an enjoinder un-till you ~~are~~ are further informed of the facts in this Case, As the whole Matter is a false an Malicious, and theaving transaction

Coker who has signed the within letter, have known him from youth and believes the statement he has Made true in every perticular, And farther belives, that his Arrest should Not result ~~in any~~ on investigation of a breach of law, ~~the~~ we therefore, Ask that the aquisition be not granted.

States that in consequence of having brought back a yoke of oxen illegally taken from him in Miss,, ^and^ carried to Al^a,, , under an attachment for debt contracted by his Father, W. B. Coker; he anticipates a requisition from the Gov. of latter State for his arrest

Asks that it may not be granted, until the case is fair-ly investigated.
