His Excellency Jas. L. Alcorn
Governor of Mississippi,

Sir,

I have the honor respectfully to ask that you will be pleased to issue a pardon for Samuel Harmon a convict in this institution, who was convicted at the April term 1868, of the Circuit Court of Madison County, of Larceny, and sentenced to two years confinement in this institution;—his term expires April 2^nd next.

Since his incarceration here, his conduct has been exemplary, and being a practical cabinet—maker he has been of great service in learning others, which he has at all times cheerfully done, and has thus been of great service.

Taking these facts into considera-

-tion, I ask that the short time remaining of his sentence may be forgiven him and that he be pardoned, so as to preserve his citizenship.
