13^th Judicial District Court
Parish of Tensas—

The accused, in this case, having been convicted by the verdict of the Court for the crime of Manslaughter, was brought into Court, and asked if he had anything to say why sentence should not now be pro-nounced upon him, and no cause to the contrary being shown, the following sentence was pronounced by the Court: By reason of the law and the evidence and the verdict of the Court being against the accused, It is ordered, adjudg-ed and decreed by the Court that you, William E. Brewer be re-manded to the custody of the sheriff of this parish; that you ~~William E Brewer be remanded~~ be taken to the Parish Jail, and there safely kept, and that the sheriff at the earliest day practicable deliver you to the keeper of the State Penitentiary, at Baton Rouge, and that you be there confined at hard labor

for the space of two years, and that you pay a fine of one dol-lar and costs of prosecution—

This read and signed in open Court this 28 day of April, A. D. 1870.
