Dear Sir

I herewith state my routes so as to show in what Portion of the State I am Engaged in. for the Detection of Crime, and to obtain full and Correct information as partaining to my Sirvice

Lafayette County Pontotoc C^o Yellowbush C^o Grenada C^o Choctow C^o Carrol C^o and DeSota Panola C^o the Cival Officers of the above Counties are in full Concord with me and your Dept,, any information they can give in these respective Counties they willingley and cheerfully do so so as to enable me to Capture fugitives who Escaped from Jail and the laws of the State. I am obtaining a full and correct Discription from the late assassination of Mr Brantley the Mayor of Winona Miss

of the supposed assassin, it was a fearfull Crime enacted on a peacefull Citizen and Official I visited the residence of Mr Brantley late Mayor of Winona his wife and family are indeed entitled to sympathy. I will not attempt to describe the scene it was heart-rendering which has followed the murdered mans Wife and family. Grief Like theirs can not be Portrayed, with sad hearts they Explained all they know to me. I cannot see what gave the assassin any Chance for Escape but ~~aso to~~ Just as I have said it is impossible to Empannel a Jurry to Convict and it is almost impossible to get any one to give any information, the information I want will come slow, but patiance will accomplish all. in regards to Charles E Mooney the assassin of Mr West for which a heavy reward is out I have obtained his Potograph and I believe full and reliable information all I am waiting for is instruction for to go after him his Destination is in Texas I am working up Cases in different parts in different Counties all for the good of the

Secret Service and the State of Mississippi as soon as I obtain a full and Correct Discription and reliable information of the suppossed murderer of Mr Brantley the Mayor late of Winona I shall forward To Hd Quarters. at the same time I will work on other Cases,, and do expect to receive instructions from time to time,, If I had the letter to the President of the Mississippi Central R R and Baltimore and Ohio I could get my half price fare, also I could make arrangements with the Mississippi and Tennessee R R,, had I a letter to either of the president or Superintendents I shall Dispatch for more money ere this reaches you through Mail, every thing goese slow. I shall render an account Ihope satisfactory. Ihope you received my suite of clothing and will take the best of care take them to a secure place till I come to my head Quarters, and I shall ever consider myself under many oblications to his honor the Chief for his everlasting Kindness and for the confidence bestowed on me by His Excelancy the Governor and his honor ^my^ the Chief
