A Proclamation

State of Georgia
By His Excellency
Rufus B Bullock
Governor of said State

Whereas, a murder was committed on the person of Mary Gray in the month of April 1869 in the County of Oglethorpe in the State of Georgia; and

Whereas, one George Long was charged with, indicted and convicted of the said murder; and

Whereas, reliable evidence has since been discovered that the murder was committed by one W. B. H. Kidd, commonly known as Nat Kidd, and that the said Kidd has confessed to having Committed the said murder.

Now, therefore to the end that justice may be done I Rufus B Bullock Governor of said State, do hereby issue this my proclamation offering a Reward of One Thousand Dollars for the delivery of the said Nat Kidd to the Sheriff of Oglethorpe County Georgia, and an additional reward of One Thousand Dollars upon the conviction of the said Kidd.

the City of Atlanta, this the nineteenth day of October in the year of our Lord, One thousand Eight hundred and Seventy, and of the Independence of the United States of America the ninety fifth.

Description

W. H. B. Kidd, commonly known as "Nat Kidd" is five feet nine inches in heighth, twenty four years old, blue Eyes, brown hair, tolerably fleshy, probably weighs one hundred and Seventy pounds; scar on the forehead, rather over one Eye; rather large nose somewhat flat, full Eye, and is of nervous temperament, shakes when engage in conversation, shaKing is increased when under any excitement, and tremulous when holding any weight; heavy Eyebrows and broad nostrils.

He has been lately living in or near Waterford, Marshall County Mississippi, employed as a Painter in one of the Car Shops of the Mississippi Central Rail Road
