His Excellency, Gov. Alcorn:

Dear Sir,

My son, Tho^s Dade Palmer, a graduate of Jefferson Medical Collage Philad^a, and a native of Miss., is well and favorably known to all respectable people of Jackson, where he was born. He is now on his way from Washington

I write in his behalf and solicit the honor of his appoint-ment to the position of Assistant Physician in the Lunatic Asylum, which I have just learnt is vacant, or but temporarily supplied.

Whilst a student in Philad^a, he has had abundant oppor=tunity, which in his ardent love of his profession he improved, to practice in the Hospitals,—particularly in the "Northern Dispensary", of which he was a constant attendant during the summer months.

For his moral standing, I have the honor to refer to Rev. D^r. Crane Judge Yerger, and all worthy residents of Jackson
