I do not desire the governor to approve the Contract in fact, but merely to say to me, that I have his approval for going ahead—with the work. Please explain. The whole cost will not exceed $2⁰⁰⁰.

Sir.

I respectfully request the approval of the Governor to a contract that I can enter into, for building one brick ward 411 feet long by 24 feet wide for the accommodation of the female patients of the Hospital. I have but eleven beds for the female sick, and this is entirely insufficient to satisfy the increasing demand. The party building agrees to waite for his pay until the Legislature meets, when an appropriation of two thousand dollors may be made to defray the expense of building the same, if deemed advisable by the Governor. The urgent demand for increased room, and the liberality of the Contractor, I hope will induce His Excellency, to give me his approval of the above mentioned contract.
