JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI.

To the Sheriff of Marshal County

Greeting:

Whereas, at the [gap] Term, 1874, of the Justice Court of Marshal County, in said State, Champ Wilkins was convicted of the crime of Incest, and by the Court sentenced to ^was placed under Bond of $270 for his appearance at the next term of Circuit Court with^ Henry and Gordon Jeffries

Now, Therefore, I, Adelbert Ames Governor of the State of Mississippi, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Laws of said State, and for divers good and sufficient reasons, me, thereto moving, do ~~grant~~ ^remit said forfeiture of Bond^ unto the said Champ Wilkins a ~~full pardon~~ for said crime of Incest until meeting of Legislature and do authorize and direct you, on receipt of these presents, to release him from confinement.

In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Mississippi to be affixed this 18^th,, day of April 1874.
