EXECUTIVE OFFICE,
JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI.

To the Superintendent of the Penitentiary:

Whereas, at the August Term, 1871, of the Circuit Court of Copiah County, in this State, Spencer Williams was convicted of the crime of Grand Larceny, and by the Court sentenced to Three years imprisonment in the State Penitentiary; AND WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 13 of An Act of the Legis-lature, entitled "An Act for the regulation, control, and support of the Penitentiary," approved March 28th, 1872, the Superintendent of the Penitentiary has reported that there are no marks of demerit on the roll against said Spencer Williams;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ~~RIDGLEY C. POWERS,~~ ^Adelbert Ames^ Governor of the State of Missis-sippi, by virtue of the above recited Act, do shorten the term of the sentence of the said Spencer Williams, at the rate of three days for each month; and do authorize and direct you to discharge him accordingly.

In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Missis-sippi to be affixed, this 10" day of June, 1874.
