Sir

In accordance with Section 40 of an act entitled "an act for the regulation, control and supp-ort of the Penitentiary it becomes my duty to inform your Excellency of the escape of Convicts. Aleck Wilson and James Banks. Both worked, under Loan with Monroe and Trate, near Livingston, Madison C^o and effect-ed their escape the first on June 5^th the latter on the 9^th inst.

James Banks [gap] Age 20 years, Height 5 ft 9in. Complexion dark Copper Color, Hair and Eyes black (no marks)
