My Dear Sir

At the instance of your immediate represenatives on Tom Bigbee river, Who have been overfloon & their entire crops & many of them loosing their Entire Stock of cattle mules Hogs & provisions, I understand through our mutual friend Mayor H B. Whitfield that you have been appointed by the Unisted States Gov-ernment to distribute the controbutions given by Congress to the unfortunate poor in the overfloored District,

I will take great pleasure in giving you any assistance in making the Distrobution of the bounty of the Govern-ment, I have resently made a tour through nine counties in this State & am happy to tell you that you have immortalised your Self by Happointing Chancelor Christam, all Hill cant keep you from being being Elected Govenor at the next Election, you are my first last & only choice for Govenor at the next Election, our friend Senator Allcorn has immortalised him Self in his Great Speach in the Senate on the Civil Rights Bill, my opinion is that he is the rising Star of the republican Party & that Gov Ames is, or will be, a dead cask in The Pit, Excuse me for writing the above with a pencil as I have no pen, Gov please send me the last acts of the Legislature,
