His Excellency A. Ames—
Governor State of Mississippi—

The undersigned, respectfully call your atten-tion to the fact of suffering still existing in that portion of our County called "Dead Man's Bend" caused by the late overflow, and we desire, if practicable, that you furnish said citizens with Goverment supplies. From information from that section we have reason to believe that supplies furnished them would be worthly bestowed—
