I am rejoiced to know of the appointment of Dr. Cullins—I had no idea of that—or should not have written—or dispatched you to appoint Mr Pickens—D^r Cullins is an old & tried Republican—I hope the Legislature will allow me pay for a little over six months pay—I held the courts—Reynolds failed at each point—I will write you fully in a few days—May God strengthen your arm—& your Administration
