To His Excellency Adelbert Ames Governor of the State of Mississippi

Your petitioners citizens of the County of Lauderdale and State of Mississippi respectfully represent that A B Avery a citizen of the City of Meridian was indicted at the last Term of the Circuit Court of Lauderdale County in the follow-ing cases to wit: Nos 925, 951 & 952 charged with Retailing without License, to all of which cases the said Avery pleaded guilty as charged and was fined by the Court the sum of Twenty five Dollars in each case and Costs. That Stearns and Jones of said city at the same Term of said Court were indicted in the following cases to wit N^os 920, 921 & 922 charged with retailing were each fined in the sum of Twenty five Dollars & cash to be taxed against them as seperate defendants after having plead guilty to the charges

And Joseph Eakins also a citizen of said City of Meridian was indicted in the following cases at said Term of said Court to wit N^os 930 931 & 932 ^Charged with retailing without License^ to which cases the said Joseph Eakins pleaded guilty as charged and was fined in the sum of Twenty five Dollars in each case together with the costs of said cases:

And Your petitioners feeling that the said parties are unable to pay said fines; and believing that they will henceforth be good law abiding citizens, most respectfully pray Your Excellency to grant them and each of them a remittal of said fines in each of said cases. And as in duty bound Your petitioners will ever pray &c
