Dear Sir.

I was employed as Clerk in. W. M. Connor's office while he was Sheriff. of Noxubee County. and saw all the Communications from your Exclancy to Capt Connor in regard to his removal. I have heard Capt Connor tell the County Treasurer that he would give the County two thousand Dollars, if they would settle with him and only take such claims as the Circuit Court had passed upon and allowed him D^r Allgood would not settle with Connor first because he was his opponant for the office of sheriff and wanted to use it against him in the canvass. & 2^d because he (Allgood has fought every sheriff that has been in office since he has been on on the B/S, Allgood had entire Control of the Board. And they did only what he said. not a single one of them could read or write. After J. R. Moore resigned. And for Allgoods business qualification you only have to refer to the Assessment Books for this year of this County.

The new Board are entirely Democratic, and they have allowed all the accounts that Conner asked the old Board to allow, and more.

There was never any hold back on the part of Conner to settle with the County. He has time and again importuned the members of the Board in my presence to allow his accts as allowed by the Circuit Court. I would ask Capt Connor to get you a statement from the Colord members of the old B/S, they may do you some good. Any thing I can do for you at any time Command me. If my statement under oath will do you any good I will make it.
