I would be glad if you and my friend Dr. M^cWhorter would have a Bill passed by the present Legislature for the relief of Dr J S Swofford, in two cases on forfeited bonds. I will give you the Style of the cases

The Doctor will be under many obligations to y[unclear] if you will have a bill passed by this legislature to relieve him and the other securities on the [?] bond, the cost in the cases has been paid, the Dr has paid out a large amount of money on account of his son and it looks hard in his old age. he should be brought to poverty any thing that you can do, in the way of relieving him will be duly appreciated by me

The amount of the forfeited bond in The first case is $300--
The amount in the Second case is $200--

I as have already paid out a good deal of money, Alledge my age, (63) years, blindness of children, Frank's mind &c. Work the thing as best you can, Speak to Whorton & Guthrie and also C. C. Terry of the Senate from Benton & Union, You know all and will do all. You know that Political malice was the parent of all my trouble. Give you attention to this matter & greatly oblige
