There was a young lad, Bill Meritt Sent to the penitentiary for 2 years, from this county April 1875. The testimony was flimsey, and the district atty and Judge agreed to sign a petition to commute—one year—Would this be sufficient for your Excellency to act up-on? If so, I can procure the recomendation, I fell some interest in the lad—And
