My dear Governor:

I see that a bill has been passed to authorize some rout of navigation of the Yazoo Pass.

I hope & beg that you ~~well~~ ^will^ veto it.

The Pass lets in an enourmous volume of water on the Tallahatchie & upper Yazoo County. No system—no lock or any other kind of system of letting that water in, can be devised without exposing to overflow the whole Tallahatchie and upper Yazoo county. I have no doubt the bill propoes some scheme of monopoly that sacrifices the people by exposing them to overflow. And I urge you to veto it. It is a most vital question to all of us & we are all against it.
