Dickens in Panola County, Mississippi, to Mississippi Governor Charles Clark at Macon, Mississippi, stating that Confederate Major General Nathan Bedford Forrest will conscript all men between the ages of 18 and 54 who are in state service, and asking if Dickens should muster the conscripts and if the state will surrender its commissioned officers to Forrest.
