Hewson, private secretary to Alcorn, giving an executive summary of White's letter.

Ration return requesting ten days rations to be issued for a detachment of bridge builders working on the Southern Railroad at Jackson, Mississippi. The return is approved by order of Colonel Charles A. Gilchrist, the Sub-District commander, thus authorizing the Assistant Commissary of Subsistence to issue the requested rations.
