From the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Governor Alcorn Collection. Letter from Murray Peyton, secretary of the Mississippi State Senate, to Mississippi Governor James L. Alcorn, giving notice of the Senate's confirmation of county officers for Warren and Itawamba Counties, Mississippi, as well as municipal officers for the town of Fulton, Mississippi.
From the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Governor Sharkey Collection. Letter from Colonel L. M. Hall at Vicksburg, Mississippi, to Mississippi Governor William L. Sharkey, asking that the white militia in the city not be disbanded or that it be reorganized for state service. On the reverse, notes from J. M. Patrise and A. H. Arthur express support for Hall's request, endorse Hall to lead the militia, and complain that there are no infantry troops stationed at Vicksburg except African American soldiers and a "disorganized body of white troops" waiting to be discharged.
