Osterhaus, enclosing an extract of a letter from Lieutenant John W. Critchfield concerning the wrongful seizure of arms from freedmen in Madison County, Mississippi. (Enclosed letter from Critchfield is mdah_776-960-01-35). A note from Gordon, on behalf of Osterhaus, indicates that Donaldson's correspondence was referred to Mississippi Governor William L. Sharkey.
