The 3rd Regiment, Texas Cavalry (Confederate), also known as the South Kansas-Texas Mounted Volunteers, was organized on June 13, 1861 in Dallas County, Texas under the command of Col. Elkanah Greer and served in the Western Theater in Ross's Brigade, Army of Tennessee and later in the Department of Alabama, Mississippi and East Louisiana. It was later commanded by Cols. Robert H.
